My past finds me again
I came to work yesterday, and checked my email, as always. Mostly comments from here, and I love those. But there was an email telling me I had a message on my MySpace page. I don't go to MySpace very often, and I was just going to ignore it, except that it was from a girl, and it intrigued me. So I checked it out. The subject line has my maiden name in it. This chick knows me.
I got the following: Well, the little bit on your profile leads me to believe you might be her, but I'm not 100% positive, because we all change in (gulp) 20 years or so.
Take a look around my profile and see if you can figure out who I am.
If you aren't who I think you are, forgive me. We're still both Windsor grads. If you are......then HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! We must catch up.
Now, I'm really intrigued. I think I know who it is, but I want to be sure. So I check out her profile. If this is who I think it is, the profile is about as far away from the person she was when I knew her, but doesn't surprise me.
I responded with: If this is not my best friend from my Senior year (your sophmore year) who helped me get a certain tall dark handsome gym coach to be my date for my Senior prom (and then he couldn't get off work) I am going to look like such a dork.

Dead on.
My best friend from high school, who I haven't seen or talked to in 20 years, found me.
Now, based on the profile I saw, and the person I knew 21 years ago, the two don't jive, from outward appearances alone. The truth is, 21 years ago, I could see this side of her, and knew this was in her, but how do you tell someone that? What I saw on her profile, didn't surprise me in the least.
We spent the day catching up. Some things you can pick up right where you left off, other things, take some explaining. But now that we have found each other again, we have all the time in the world.
So, there is a new person to add to the Cast of Characters.... JJ, my best friend from high school. In a couple of days, she may actually have a name, but for now, she's JJ

Stuff like this rocks. I had two old high school buddies that I had lost track of, call me last Nov-Dec. It was wonderful.

It seems like EVERYONE I went to high school with dropped off the face of the earth. Either that or I was just so damn nerdy, they all moved away to get away from me.
